Moscow Menaces Beijing, Again....
March 21 2025 | San Clemente California .......... Beijing's "No Limits" partnership with Moscow is, in fact, limited. At least if current events and history are considered. Today, Moscow has pivoted towards the West, seeing their future tied to gains only free and open countries can offer. Moscow, now seeing a Russia-Western Strategy as their best means of rising up, again, has made false commitments to Beijing. This shocking turn is nothing new. Witness history .......... 1. The Treaty of Aigun (1858) and the Treaty of Tientsin (1859); In the mid-19th century, the Russian Empire and the Qing Dynasty (China) had territorial disputes, particularly in the Amur River region (in what is now the Russian Far East). Following the Second Opium War and the Taiping Rebellion in China, Russia took advantage of the weakened state of the Qing Dynasty and secured territorial gains......... 2. The Boxer Rebellion (1899-1901), including Britain, France, Japan, and Germany, sent troops to suppress a sino-russo rebellion. While the rebellion was not directly about Russia turning against China, the aftermath of the rebellion showed rising Russian influence in China, particularly in Manchuria. Russia's increasing control over Manchuria and the subsequent building of the Trans-Siberian Railway trampled across China's land reaching Korea and, some say, Japan.......... 3. Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) Although this war was primarily between Russia and Japan, it indirectly impacted Russia-China relations. The war was largely fought over control of Manchuria and Korea, both of which were of strategic importance to China......... 4. The Sino-Soviet Split (1960s), fundamentally changed the geopolitical landscape in the Cold War era, as China sought to develop its own path to socialism, in reality Communism, and the Soviet Union distanced itself from China both politically and militarily. The situation escalated into a full-blown split, with both countries accusing each other of being unfaithful to Marxist principles. This resulted in military clashes along their shared border, such as the Sino-Soviet border conflict (1969), where armed skirmishes broke out, particularly over the disputed island of Zhenbao (Damansky) in the Ussuri River......... 5. (2025) Russia embraces the West leaving China behind, menacing Beijing.
